History can teach you a way of thinking.

History is a set of skills: it is a way of reading sources, making arguments, and interpreting the world around us.

These skills can be activated to research the past; they can also help us think more critically about arguments, assumptions, and claims.

Circa can help you stand out.

The skills of history are crucial to academics: learning to think critically about sources, making clear arguments, and getting your message across are skills that will help you in high school and college classes.

Circa also teaches its students how to conduct their own history projects. Instead of memorizing facts and dates, Circa students uncover their own answers to questions they have about the past. Share your findings with the world or with an admissions committee.

Work with our Ivy-League Experts.

Circa instructors know the skills of history: our instructors use these skills every day in their work as professional historians. Each Circa expert has a PhD in history from a top-ten school.

Our experts are also accomplished teachers: they have been recognized by their universities for their teaching excellence.

Discover how the Circa Project Works

Pick Your Program

Circa teaches the skills of history through three programs: Skill-Driven Programs, AP History Test Prep, and Individualized Study.

Choose the Circa program that targets your goals, whether you are looking to improve in your academics, shine on the AP test, or stand out in college admissions.

Pick Your Content Track

Within their programs, Circa students rely on historical case studies, focused around one of three content tracks: US History, Modern Europe, and Modern World. Each of these tracks aligns with a typical high school course on the subject, including the three AP history courses. Take a Circa program that parallels your current history course or challenge yourself with something new.

US History

How have revolutions shaped the history of the United States?

Modern Europe

How have ideas of European cooperation and competition shaped the continent?

Modern World

How have contacts between societies and nations built our international world today?
